Die Geschichte
Ollie Watkins is a technically complete centre-forward whose relentless pressing and clinical finishing made him one of the Premier League's most dangerous strikers at Aston Villa. He became the club's all-time top Premier League scorer in 2025 and scored the semi-final winner that sent England to the Euro 2024 final.
Watkins began his career at Exeter City, where he was recognised as EFL Young Player of the Year in 2017. Three productive seasons at Brentford followed, including a spell as joint top scorer in the 2019–20 Championship, before Aston Villa paid £28 million to sign him in September 2020. He quickly became their focal point in attack and surpassed Gabriel Agbonlahor's long-standing Villa record of 74 Premier League goals in May 2025.
A late substitute appearance at UEFA Euro 2024 yielded one of the tournament's defining moments when he scored the winner against the Netherlands to put England in the final. His 13 assists in the 2023–24 Premier League season earned him the Playmaker of the Season award, and he continued contributing to Villa's success as the club won the Europa League in 2026.
