Alejandro Grimaldo is a Spanish left wing-back who developed through Barcelona's youth system and spent seven seasons at Benfica before joining Bayer Leverkusen in 2023. He was a key figure in Leverkusen's historic unbeaten Bundesliga title run in 2023–24, leading the league in assists.
Grimaldo joined Barcelona's academy in 2008 and made his Segunda División debut at 15. He moved to Benfica in 2015 on a free transfer, where he won four Primeira Liga titles and established himself as one of Europe's best attacking full-backs over seven seasons.
After joining Leverkusen on a free transfer in May 2023, he delivered 13 assists in the 2023–24 Bundesliga season — the most in the league — helping the club win their first-ever Bundesliga title. He also contributed to Spain's UEFA Euro 2024 triumph and earned a Ballon d'Or nomination.
