La historia

Matías Viña is a Uruguayan left-back who won Copa Libertadores honours with both Palmeiras and Flamengo across a career that has also taken him to AS Roma and the English and Italian loan markets. He has earned over 40 caps for Uruguay and featured at the 2022 World Cup.

Viña came through Nacional's youth system and made his senior debut in 2017, winning the Uruguayan championship and catching the attention of Palmeiras, who signed him in 2020. He won back-to-back Copa Libertadores titles with the Brazilian club before AS Roma paid for him in 2021.

His time in Italy included a loan at Bournemouth and another at Sassuolo before Flamengo signed him in 2024. He was loaned to River Plate from Flamengo and won the Copa Libertadores with Flamengo in 2025.
