Álex Baena

Álex Baena is a Spanish attacking midfielder who joined Atlético Madrid in July 2025 after five productive seasons at Villarreal. He was the top assist provider in La Liga in 2023–24 with 14 assists and earned his first Spain senior cap in September 2023.

Baena came through the Villarreal youth academy and progressed to the first team around 2020, with a loan spell at Girona in 2021–22 helping him develop in the top flight. He established himself as one of La Liga's most creative midfielders at Villarreal, topping the assist charts in 2023–24.

After winning UEFA Euro 2024 with Spain and an Olympic gold medal with the under-23 side at Paris 2024, Baena signed for Atlético Madrid on a five-year contract in July 2025.
