Erik Lira

Érik Lira is a Mexican defensive midfielder who has established himself as a key figure at Cruz Azul, captaining the side and winning the 2026 Liga MX Clausura title.

Lira progressed through youth academies at Pumas UNAM and Necaxa before making his professional debut in 2018. After returning to Pumas, he joined Cruz Azul permanently in January 2022 and became central to the team's midfield, eventually taking the captain's armband.

He made his Mexico senior debut in October 2021 and has since accumulated 26 caps, contributing to the 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup and Nations League wins.
