Lisandro Martínez

Lisandro Martínez is an Argentine centre-back who plays for Manchester United and is a key defender in Argentina's World Cup-winning squad. Nicknamed 'The Butcher', he is known for his aggressive defending, composure under pressure, and ability to play out from the back.

Martínez developed at Newell's Old Boys and Defensa y Justicia before joining Ajax in 2019, where he made 120 appearances and won back-to-back Eredivisie titles, being named Ajax Player of the Year in 2021–22. Manchester United signed him for a significant fee in 2022.

At Old Trafford he has accumulated over 110 appearances and won the EFL Cup in 2022–23 and the FA Cup in 2023–24. Internationally, he was part of the squads that won the 2021 Copa América, the 2022 FIFA World Cup, the 2022 Finalissima, and the 2024 Copa América.
