Nico Williams

Nico Williams is a Spanish winger for Athletic Bilbao, known for his blistering pace and direct dribbling. He burst onto the international stage at UEFA Euro 2024, scoring in the final and earning a Man of the Match award as Spain claimed their fourth European title.

Born in Pamplona to Ghanaian refugee parents, Williams joined Athletic Bilbao's youth system in 2013. He made his La Liga debut in April 2021 — notably alongside his brother Iñaki — and established himself as a first-team regular from the 2022–23 season onward. He played a key role in Athletic's Copa del Rey triumph in 2023–24, assisting in the final.

At international level, Williams featured at the 2022 FIFA World Cup and then starred at Euro 2024, where his direct running on the left flank terrorised opponents and he scored the opening goal in the final against England. Despite heavy interest from clubs including Barcelona, he signed a ten-year extension with Athletic Bilbao in July 2025.
