The story
Deniz Undav is a German striker who rose to prominence with Union Saint-Gilloise and has since become a prolific goalscorer for VfB Stuttgart in the Bundesliga. Named Belgian Professional Footballer of the Year in 2021–22, he made his Germany senior debut in 2024.
Undav progressed through lower German leagues before moving to Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise in 2020, where he scored 18 league goals in 2021–22 and was named Belgian Professional Footballer of the Year. Brighton & Hove Albion signed him for €7 million in January 2022, but first-team opportunities were limited.
A loan spell at VfB Stuttgart in 2023–24 produced 18 goals and led to a permanent transfer in August 2024. He won the DFB-Pokal with Stuttgart in 2024–25 and quickly became one of the Bundesliga's most effective forwards. He also earned 9 senior Germany caps, scoring 6 goals, and was selected for the 2026 FIFA World Cup squad.
