Mohamed El Shenawy

Mohamed El Shenawy is an Egyptian goalkeeper who captains Al Ahly and has served as Egypt's first-choice keeper at major tournaments. His return to Al Ahly in 2016 began a sustained run of domestic and African success.

After developing at Al Ahly, El Shenawy built his senior career with Tala'ea El Gaish, Haras El Hodoud and Petrojet. Strong form at Petrojet earned him a return to Al Ahly, where he established himself as the leading goalkeeper.

He debuted for Egypt in 2018 and started at that year's World Cup, earning man-of-the-match recognition against Uruguay. He later helped Egypt reach the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations final.
