The story
Nikola Katić is a Bosnian centre-back who won the Scottish Premiership with Rangers before moving to Switzerland and Germany, switching international allegiance from Croatia to Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2024.
After emerging at NK Slaven Belupo, Katić joined Rangers in 2018 and won the Scottish Premiership title in 2020–21, making 37 appearances for the club. He then moved to FC Zürich in 2022 where he became a key figure over three seasons.
A loan to Plymouth Argyle in 2025 preceded a permanent move to Schalke 04, where he helped the club win promotion via the 2. Bundesliga title in 2025–26. Originally capped once by Croatia in 2017, he switched to Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2024 and has earned 17 caps.
