The story

Ricardo Rodríguez is a Swiss left-back from Zürich with 138 caps — second only to Xhaka — who has played for Wolfsburg, AC Milan, PSV (loan), Torino, and Real Betis, and holds the Swiss record for most appearances at major international tournaments (22).

Rodríguez began at FC Zürich before joining VfL Wolfsburg in 2012, where he was named the best left-back in the Bundesliga and won the DFB-Pokal and DFL-Supercup in 2015. He moved to AC Milan in 2017, then PSV on loan and Torino, before signing for Real Betis in 2024.

A cornerstone of the Switzerland defence since 2011, he has been named Swiss Footballer of the Year (2014) and holds the national record for tournament appearances. His precise dead-ball delivery and attacking instincts have been a trademark across his long international career.
