Samet Akaydın

Samet Akaydın is a Turkish centre-back who rose through the lower divisions before earning a move to Fenerbahçe in 2023 and a loan to Panathinaikos. He is best known for scoring against the Netherlands in the UEFA Euro 2024 quarter-final.

Akaydın spent the early part of his career at Sancaktepe, Şanlıurfaspor, and Ankara Keçiörengücü before a productive spell at Adana Demirspor earned him a move to Fenerbahçe in 2023, where he won the Turkish Cup. He was loaned to Panathinaikos in Greece in 2024, winning the Greek Cup.

He joined Çaykur Rizespor in 2025. For Turkey he has 18 caps and scored a memorable goal against the Netherlands in the Euro 2024 quarter-final.
