The story
Thiago Almada is an Argentine attacking midfielder who progressed rapidly from Vélez Sarsfield to become a key creative force in MLS before taking his talent to Europe. He was a member of Argentina's 2022 FIFA World Cup-winning squad.
Almada made his professional debut for Vélez Sarsfield and developed into one of the more exciting young midfielders in Argentine football before moving to Atlanta United in MLS in 2022, where he scored 23 goals in 77 appearances. In 2024 he joined Botafogo and immediately made an impact, helping the club win the Copa Libertadores and the Campeonato Brasileiro in the same season.
A loan spell at Lyon followed before Atlético Madrid signed him permanently in 2025. At international level he has earned 16 caps and scored 5 goals for Argentina's senior team.
