The story
Vózinha is one of Cape Verde's most experienced goalkeepers, having earned more than 80 international caps since 2012 and participated in four Africa Cup of Nations tournaments. He has played across multiple countries and currently keeps goal for G.D. Chaves in Portugal.
Born Josimar Évora Dias in Mindelo, Vózinha spent his early career in Cape Verde with Batuque FC and CS Mindelense before moving abroad to Angola, Moldova and Cyprus. His five seasons at AEL Limassol (2017–2022) were his most decorated club period, including winning the Cypriot Cup in 2018–19. He subsequently moved to Gil Vicente and then G.D. Chaves in Portugal.
He has been Cape Verde's first-choice keeper since 2012, earning 81 caps and representing the country at the 2013, 2015, 2021 and 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. Cape Verde reached the quarter-finals at the 2013 tournament.
