A história
Joaquín Piquerez is a Uruguayan left-back who established himself as one of South America's top defenders during a trophy-laden spell at Palmeiras, where he won the Copa Libertadores and back-to-back Brasileirão titles. He made his senior international debut in 2021 and was selected for Uruguay's 2026 World Cup squad.
After coming through Defensor Sporting's youth ranks and making his debut in 2017, Piquerez moved to River Plate Montevideo before joining Peñarol in 2020, where he won the Uruguayan championship. Palmeiras signed him in 2021.
At Palmeiras he became a first-choice left-back, amassing over 175 appearances and collecting multiple honours including the 2021 Copa Libertadores. He earned individual recognition with a Bola de Prata award in 2022 and Copa Libertadores Team of the Tournament selection in 2023.
