Chancel Mbemba

Chancel Mbemba is a professional centre-back who captains the DR Congo national team and plays for Ligue 1 club Lille.

Mbemba began his professional career at Anderlecht, winning the Belgian Pro League in his debut season. He subsequently played for Newcastle United, winning the EFL Championship in 2017, and Porto, where he won two Primeira Liga titles and two Taça de Portugal cups. He joined Marseille in 2022 and moved to Lille in 2025.

Mbemba has represented the Democratic Republic of the Congo at six Africa Cup of Nations tournaments, finishing third in 2015. He is the country's most-capped international player.
