Nico Schlotterbeck

Nico Schlotterbeck is a German centre-back who has been a mainstay of Borussia Dortmund's defence since joining for €25 million in 2022, helping them reach the 2024 UEFA Champions League final. He has earned 27 senior Germany caps and won the 2021 UEFA U-21 Championship.

Schlotterbeck progressed through youth academies at Stuttgart Kickers and Karlsruher SC before joining SC Freiburg, where he made 49 Bundesliga appearances. A loan to Union Berlin in 2020–21 added 16 appearances before he returned to Freiburg. Borussia Dortmund signed him in May 2022 for €25 million.

At Dortmund he quickly became a regular starter, making 112 appearances and scoring 11 goals, with the club reaching the 2023–24 Champions League final. He was named to the Bundesliga Team of the Season four times (2021–22, 2022–23, 2024–25, 2025–26). Internationally, he won the 2021 UEFA U-21 Championship, featured at the 2022 FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro 2024, and accumulated 27 senior caps.
