Nikola Vasilj is Bosnia and Herzegovina's first-choice goalkeeper, who progressed from Zrinjski Mostar through Ukrainian football to become a mainstay at FC St. Pauli, helping the Hamburg club win promotion to the Bundesliga.

Vasilj began his senior career at Zrinjski Mostar, winning two Bosnian Premier League titles, before stints at 1. FC Nürnberg II and Zorya Luhansk. He joined FC St. Pauli in 2021, quickly establishing himself as the club's number one and making over 160 appearances.

His consistent performances contributed to St. Pauli's 2. Bundesliga title and promotion in 2023–24. He made his international debut for Bosnia and Herzegovina in March 2021 and has since accumulated 26 senior caps.
