La historia
Rúben Neves is a Portugal international defensive midfielder who made history as Porto's youngest-ever Champions League player at 17, eclipsing a record held by Cristiano Ronaldo. A composed and technically gifted operator, he spent six seasons as one of English football's standout midfielders before moving to the Saudi Pro League.
Neves rose through Porto's academy to make his first-team debut in 2014, going on to make nearly 60 appearances for the club before Wolverhampton Wanderers signed him in 2017. He was integral to Wolves' rise from the Championship — winning the second-tier title in 2018 — through to establishing themselves in the Premier League, accumulating over 250 appearances and 30 goals during his six years at Molineux.
In the summer of 2023 he joined Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal, where he has continued to perform at a high level, winning the Saudi Pro League in 2024. For Portugal he has earned 65 senior caps across major tournaments including Euro 2020, the 2022 World Cup, Euro 2024, and the 2026 World Cup cycle, and was part of the Nations League-winning squads in both 2019 and 2025.
