Unai Simón

Unai Simón is Spain's first-choice goalkeeper and an Athletic Bilbao academy product, recognised as one of Europe's elite shot-stoppers. He was a key figure in Spain's UEFA Euro 2024 triumph and was runner-up for the 2024 Yashin Trophy.

Simón progressed entirely through Athletic Bilbao's youth system, making his La Liga debut in August 2018 and becoming the undisputed first choice shortly after. He has accumulated over 200 appearances for the club, winning the Copa del Rey in 2023–24 and the Zamora Trophy for La Liga's best goalkeeper in the same season.

Internationally, Simón broke into the Spain senior squad in 2020 and quickly established himself as the number one, participating in Euro 2020, the 2023 Nations League victory, and Euro 2024 where he played in all but one match as Spain won their fourth European title. He won the 2019 UEFA European Under-21 Championship with Spain's youth side.
