Daizen Maeda

Daizen Maeda is a Japanese forward who plays for Celtic in the Scottish Premiership, where he has won five consecutive league titles. A relentless pressing attacker, he is one of the most successful Japanese players currently competing in European club football.

Maeda began his career at Matsumoto Yamaga and had loan spells including a stint at Portuguese club Marítimo, before emerging as a prolific scorer at Yokohama F. Marinos. He joined Celtic initially on loan in January 2022, with the move made permanent later that year, and has gone on to score 50 goals in 149 appearances for the club. In the 2021 J.League season he was the co-top scorer with 23 goals. At international level he has earned 27 caps and 4 goals for Japan, featuring at the 2022 World Cup and the 2023 AFC Asian Cup.
