Manuel Ugarte

Manuel Ugarte is a Uruguayan defensive midfielder known for his tenacious pressing and ball-winning ability, having progressed from Sporting CP through Paris Saint-Germain — where he won Ligue 1 — to Manchester United. He was named in the Copa América 2024 Team of the Tournament and has earned over 30 senior caps for Uruguay.

Ugarte came through the academy at Fénix in Montevideo before moving to Portugal, first with Famalicão and then Sporting CP, where he won the Taça da Liga in 2022 and attracted widespread attention with his combative midfield play.

PSG paid €60 million for him in 2023; he added a Ligue 1 title and Coupe de France before Manchester United signed him in August 2024. At United he collected a UEFA Europa League winner's medal in 2024-25.
