Nestory Irankunda is a winger born to Burundian refugee parents in Tanzania who moved to Australia as an infant and became one of the country's most exciting young talents. He joined Watford on a five-year contract in July 2025 after a stint at Bayern Munich.
Irankunda came through Adelaide Croatia Raiders before joining Adelaide United in 2021. He made his professional debut at 15 years and 333 days, scored his first goal weeks later to become the second-youngest goalscorer in A-League history, and in March 2024 scored the competition's second-youngest hat-trick at 18 years old. His form earned the A-League Young Footballer of the Year award in 2023–24.
In July 2024, he broke the A-League transfer record by joining Bayern Munich. After limited first-team action he went on loan to Grasshopper in Switzerland before signing a five-year deal with Watford in the EFL Championship in July 2025. For Australia, he has scored 5 goals in 15 senior appearances and won the 2026 FIFA Series Player of the Tournament award.
