Omar Alderete

Omar Alderete is a professional Paraguayan defender who plays as a centre-back for Premier League club Sunderland and the Paraguay national team.

Alderete played for Cerro Porteño, Gimnasia, Huracán, Basel, Hertha BSC, Valencia, and Getafe. In August 2025, he signed a four-year contract with Sunderland.

He represented Paraguay at various youth levels, debuted for the senior team in 2018, and has been a key figure in their World Cup qualifying campaigns.
