Promise Akinpelu

Promise Akinpelu, professionally known as Promise David, is a Canadian striker for Union Saint-Gilloise. He broke through in Estonia before becoming a league-winning scorer in Belgium.

David moved from Canadian youth football to Croatia, Malta and Estonia, where his goals for Nomme Kalju earned a transfer to Union Saint-Gilloise in 2024. He scored 19 times in his first Belgian season as Union won its first league title in 90 years.

After playing twice for Nigeria under-23, he received FIFA approval to represent Canada and debuted in 2025, scoring in his first senior appearance.
