L'histoire
Renato Veiga is a versatile Portuguese defender who broke into the senior national team in 2024 and quickly became a key figure in Portugal's 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign. Left-footed and standing 1.90 m tall, he combines composure in possession with physicality at the back.
Veiga came through Sporting CP's academy before moving abroad, spending time at FC Augsburg on loan and then joining FC Basel, where he caught the attention of top clubs with consistent performances. Chelsea signed him in the summer of 2024, and he was subsequently loaned to Juventus in January 2025, winning the UEFA Conference League with Chelsea that season.
After returning from Juventus, Veiga joined Villarreal CF in La Liga for the 2025–26 season. Internationally, he earned his first senior cap for Portugal in 2024 and scored his maiden international goal in a 9–1 World Cup qualifying victory over Armenia in November 2025, ending the campaign as a Nations League winner.
