Roberto Lopes

Roberto Lopes is a Dublin-born centre-back of Cape Verdean and Irish heritage who is a five-time League of Ireland champion with Shamrock Rovers. He has been a Cape Verde international since 2019 and participated in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Born in Crumlin to a Cape Verdean father and Irish mother, Lopes spent six years with Bohemian FC (140 league appearances) before joining Shamrock Rovers in November 2016. With Rovers he has made over 269 league appearances and won five league titles (2020–2023, 2025) and two FAI Cups (2019, 2025), earning four PFAI Team of the Year selections.

He earned one cap for Ireland's U19 side in 2011 before switching to Cape Verde in 2019, going on to earn 44 caps and feature at the 2021 and 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
