L'histoire

Rodrigo Zalazar is a Uruguayan midfielder born in Spain who came through German and Spanish academies before carving out a career in the Bundesliga and Portuguese football. He represents Uruguay internationally and was selected for the 2026 World Cup squad while playing for SC Braga.

Zalazar developed in the youth ranks at Albacete and Málaga before Eintracht Frankfurt signed him in 2019. He gained experience on loan at Korona Kielce, St. Pauli, and Schalke 04, where he scored the decisive promotion goal in the 2021-22 2. Bundesliga season that sent Schalke back to the top flight.

He joined Braga in July 2023 and performed strongly, winning the Taça da Liga in 2023-24. His form at Braga earned him a reported €30 million move to Sporting CP, set to take effect in July 2026.
