L'histoire

Ronwen Williams is South Africa's first-choice goalkeeper and captain, renowned for his penalty shootout heroics at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations that carried Bafana Bafana to a third-place finish. He was ranked among the world's top ten goalkeepers at the 2024 Ballon d'Or.

Williams spent over a decade at SuperSport United, making 278 appearances before joining Mamelodi Sundowns in 2022. At Sundowns he has won back-to-back South African Premiership titles and the 2025–26 CAF Champions League while earning individual awards including PSL Footballer of the Season (2023–24) and African Goalkeeper of the Year (2024).

He has captained Bafana Bafana since August 2021 and earned 64 senior caps, with his standout moment coming at the 2023 AFCON when he saved three penalties in a quarter-final shootout against Morocco. He was named best goalkeeper of that tournament.
