L'histoire
Weverton is a veteran Brazilian goalkeeper who spent eight years as Palmeiras' first choice, winning two Copa Libertadores titles and three Campeonato Brasileiro among a haul of trophies, before joining Grêmio in January 2026.
Weverton worked his way up through lower-division clubs in Brazil — including Corinthians, Botafogo-SP and Portuguesa, where he won the Série B title in 2011 — before Atlético Paranaense made him captain in 2014. Palmeiras signed him in 2018 and he quickly proved himself one of the most reliable goalkeepers in South America, winning three Campeonato Brasileiro titles, two Copa Libertadores titles, three Coppa Paulista and the Copa do Brasil during his eight-year tenure. Three Bola de Prata awards reflected his consistently high individual performances.
He won Olympic gold with Brazil's under-23 squad at the 2016 Rio Games and went on to earn 11 senior caps. Now at Grêmio following a January 2026 signing, he remains one of the most decorated goalkeepers in Brazilian football history.
