Christian Romero

Cristian Romero is an Argentine centre-back who plays for Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League and is a key figure in Argentina's defence. Known for his aggressive, ball-playing style, he has established himself as one of the top defenders in Europe.

Romero came through Belgrano's youth academy in his home city of Córdoba and made his professional debut in 2016. After spells at Genoa and a loan to Atalanta, he joined the Bergamo club permanently and was named Serie A's Best Defender for the 2020–21 season.

Tottenham Hotspur signed him on a permanent basis in 2022, where he has become a cornerstone of the team's defensive setup. He helped Argentina win the 2022 FIFA World Cup and collected Copa América winners' medals in both 2021 and 2024, and notably scored the fastest international goal in Argentine history — 130 seconds into a match against Colombia.
