A história
John Stones is an English centre-back who plays for Manchester City and is one of the most decorated defenders in Premier League history, having won six league titles and a Champions League with the club. He has earned 89 caps for England, appearing at four major tournaments.
Stones progressed through Barnsley's academy before Everton signed him in 2013. Manchester City paid £47.5 million — then the world's second-highest fee for a defender — to sign him in August 2016. He became a cornerstone of Pep Guardiola's dominant City sides, lifting six Premier League titles, three FA Cups, three EFL Cups, and the 2022–23 UEFA Champions League. For England he debuted in May 2014 and has been ever-present at major tournaments — Euro 2016, the 2018 World Cup (reaching the semi-finals), Euro 2020, and Euro 2024. He scored England's goal against Iran at the 2022 World Cup, becoming the first Manchester City player to score for England at a World Cup since 1982.
