A história
Shōgo Taniguchi is an experienced Japanese centre-back who won four J1 League titles with Kawasaki Frontale over nine seasons before moving to Qatar and then Belgium. He has earned 38 caps for Japan, including appearances at the 2022 World Cup and 2023 Asian Cup.
Taniguchi joined Kawasaki Frontale as a professional in 2014 and became a cornerstone of their dominant era, making 289 league appearances and scoring 20 goals. He collected four J1 League championships (2017, 2018, 2020, 2021), the Emperor's Cup (2020), the J.League Cup (2019), and two Japanese Super Cups (2019, 2021), also earning four J.League Best XI selections.
In 2023 he moved to Al-Rayyan in Qatar for 37 appearances before joining Belgian Pro League side Sint-Truiden in July 2024. He made his Japan debut in 2015 and went on to accumulate 38 caps, winning the EAFF Championship in 2022 and being named the tournament's Best Defender.
